Terms of Service
Use WordHalo with care.
These terms describe the intended agreement between a reader and the operator of WordHalo.
Last updated: July 25, 20261. The service
WordHalo provides definitions, translations, pronunciation assistance, contextual explanations, saved vocabulary, and practice tools for text a user intentionally highlights. Features may change during the beta, and some services may be unavailable while accounts or providers are not configured.
2. Eligibility
You must be legally able to agree to these terms where you live. If local law requires parent or guardian consent, you may use WordHalo only with that consent. WordHalo is not currently designed as a child-directed service.
3. Accounts and security
The beta reading interaction does not require an account. If accounts launch, you are responsible for access to your email and sign-in methods, truthful account information, and promptly reporting unauthorized use. Do not share authentication links or attempt to access another person's records.
4. Your highlighted text
You choose what text to submit. Do not submit material you lack permission to process, and avoid highlighting sensitive personal, financial, health, authentication, or confidential business information. You retain any rights you hold in submitted material; you grant WordHalo only the limited permission needed to provide, secure, and support the requested result.
5. AI and dictionary results
Results may be incomplete, inaccurate, culturally inappropriate, or wrong for the sentence. WordHalo is a reading aid—not professional, legal, medical, financial, immigration, or academic-integrity advice. Verify important information with an authoritative source.
6. Acceptable use
You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. WordHalo may restrict abusive automated traffic, attempts to bypass limits, unlawful use, security attacks, or activity that threatens readers, providers, or service availability.
7. Third-party services
WordHalo relies on service providers identified in the Subprocessor List. Their availability and lawful terms may affect the service. WordHalo does not control third-party webpages on which the extension is used.
8. Paid services
No payment is being collected today. Before paid plans activate, the price, billing interval, included limits, renewal, cancellation, refund rights, taxes, and founding-price eligibility will be shown before checkout and incorporated into these terms.
9. Intellectual property
The WordHalo name, visual identity, software, and original product materials belong to the service operator or its licensors. These terms do not grant permission to copy, resell, reverse engineer, or create a competing service from protected product materials except where law expressly allows it.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using WordHalo at any time. WordHalo may suspend access to protect the service, investigate misuse, comply with law, or address a material violation. Account deletion and export paths will be available before persistent accounts launch.
11. Disclaimers and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the beta is provided without a promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every purpose. Nothing here excludes warranties, remedies, or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded. Final liability language, dispute terms, governing law, and operator identity must be completed by counsel before public launch.
12. Changes
Material changes will be posted with a new date. If a change expands data use or materially changes paid obligations, WordHalo will provide appropriate notice and obtain consent where required.
