WordHalo's interface and explanations are available in 12 languages, and it automatically detects highlighted text in 25 languages. You choose your own language once; WordHalo identifies the language of whatever you highlight and explains it in yours.
Which languages can the interface use?
“My language” — the language of the interface, translations, definitions, and explanations — can be any of these 12 languages:

If the language of a selection cannot be identified confidently, WordHalo still attempts a translation and marks the source language as undetermined rather than guessing.
How do saved words handle multiple languages?
- Every saved word is stored under its detected source language.
- Libraries for different languages stay separate — saving French words never mixes them into your German library.
- Flashcards and learning games can be filtered to one language or practiced across all languages.
- Pronunciation audio uses the detected language of each word.
Notes and limits
- Unlimited dictionary definitions currently cover English words; other languages receive AI-generated definitions within the daily free allowance.
- Pronunciation audio depends on the voices installed with your browser and operating system, so availability varies by language and device.
